2014 Wishlist Part 1

My inner Veruca Salt is screaming ' I WANT THIS, I WANT THAT AND I WANT IT NOW '! But in this climate, having spare cash is a rarety and frankly, i'm on the bones of my arse after all the bills are paid and i've kitted Sarah out in yet more clothes ( my child is growing like a bloody sunflower! Stop growing !! )

So i have compiled a little wishlist of the things that have caught my eye so far this year and i'm hoping that Carl will see this and think ' Ooo i love Kate so much, i'll go buy her that '. It's a shot in the dark but who knows!

Instead of doing a wishlist for each month, i'm going to split mine into 2 parts. This first is this one...obviously..and the second will be in June. Ugh it's just sheer torture doing this because i want them all so bad!!

1. Disney Jack Skellington Hoody - Ebay £19.99
2. Daisy Print Skater Dress - New Look £9.99
3. Macbook Air - £625
4. Jack Skellington Mug - Disney Store £4.89 was £7
5. Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Candle - John Lewis £39
6. Insanity Star Leggings - Blue Banana £11.99

Hmmm looking back over that, i actually want to spend quite a lot but still...look how amazing that hoody is! Ahem...yes so this is my current wishlist. If it wasn't already clear, i like Jack Skellington, well, i like skulls and skeletons in general but i have a soft spot for Nightmare Before Christmas and when i saw this hoody i had to compose myself and refrain from borrowing money from my mum to buy it there and then. I shall contain my need for it and wait until payday...2 weeks away!

If there is any justice in the world, i will win the Euromillions.

A Very Open & Honest Blog Post

As a little disclaimer i want to make it very clear that this post is in no way a cry for sympathy, empathy or anything 'thy' related nor do i want to start a massive discussion about the subject. This is something i want to openly talk about as a way to relieve myself of something i have had to deal with since i was little so please don't judge. It's taking a lot for me to write about this and it's thanks to my amazing boyfriend Carl that i feel i can finally open up.

If someone tells you they are psychic, would you believe them? The majority of you would say no but there are some who do believe in the gift and live their life by it. I..unfortunately am one of the people who believe in the gift because i have it myself.

I am not one of the ghostbusters and i hate people like Derek Acorah who for all intents and purposes are a charlatan claiming to be able to see the dead and know every single detail about them ( Derek is well known for being a fraud ). My nana had the gift aswell but i didn't know this until my early teens when she passed away herself. I was left some jewelery in her will and among the bits and bobs was her old pendulum. A pendulum is a stone hanging from a chain and you basically ask it questions. It will swing one way for yes, one for no and one for maybe. I was kind of surprised to receive it along with a letter from her saying she knew i had the gift, the pendulum was now mine etc etc because i genuinely thought i was a freak hence why i kept it from my family so to know my nana had the same ability was massively reassuring.

So what am i capable of? Well if you think i am like Odame Brown from Ghost who sits at a table and gives messages from the dead and let's them 'take me over', i'm sorry to disappoint. I am more like ( i can't believe i'm saying this ) Edward Cullen from Twilight. I can look at a complete stranger and know what they are thinking, what kind of person they are, what they have done in their life, what their job is..basically i can read people. I can also sense what is about to happen within the next couple of minutes for example..i will be watching the tv and know what adverts will appear and in what order or i will know that Carl is about to ring me and know in advance what he will tell me.

There is no specific name for my gift although many would call it Telepathy. I personally hate the word as i find it very glorified for what it actually is. I would say it is more of a sister to advanced psychology. If you watch a programme like Wire in the Blood where Tony ( Robson Green ) uses his psychology skills to get into the mind of a killer and figure out what happened, i am the upgraded version of him. Cool? Not really.

I personally hate that i have this gift. Many would love to be able to do what i can do but it has been a burden for most of my life. When i walk down the street, i can pass someone and instantly sense that inside they are grieving for someone they have just lost though they have a smile on their face. I can look at a couple and know that they will either marry or break up. It's incredibly difficult and emotionally draining so witness this kind of thing on a daily basis so i chose to ' shut myself down '. This means that i close down my ' third eye ' to the world and close the door to that side of life, this in itself is bloody hard work. If i was to describe the difficulty in shutting yourself down, it would be similar to giving up something you are addicted to, a bit like cold turkey only instead of doing it over a period of time, you do it within 30 minutes. It's one of the hardest challenges i have faced and i have felt so much better for it...until yesterday.

I explained in a previous blog post that i work for the police cleaning up stations and prison cells..i also clean crime scenes and yesterday i was asked to clean up a murder scene ( i won't go into details of who, what, where, when and why for obvious reasons ). When i approached the property i felt nothing, i was there to work and that was it until i stepped through the door. It was like i was sat on the sea shore and then out of nowhere, a wave approaches me and knocks me back onto the beach. I have never experienced such an influx of memories, senses and emotions in my life. I saw everything that happened, i felt everything that happened, i felt the pain, the suffering...everything and it was so overwhelming i had to leave and go for a walk. I didn't tell my colleagues about why i left other than i needed some air but it was extremely difficult being there. What scared me the most was not so much knowing everything that happened there, but the fact that the power behind this place was strong enough to break through my walls and get into my head even though i have been shut down to such things for nearly 8 months.

Driving home, i felt sick and was in a daze and once i got back home i went upstairs and cried. I wouldn't say i am unemotional as a person but i don't cry easily which makes what happened all the more crazy. I didn't know the victim but i felt their emotions and it really affected me. I now see this as a sign that i should open myself back up to these things.

I don't openly talk about my 'gift' with anyone, only Carl and a few of my friends know but i think it's something i should share with everyone. I am not the type of person who would use their gift for profit which i think is barbaric and i don't take personal requests from anyone. I was obviously given this gift for a reason, maybe it is to improve my perception of other people as i trust way too easily? Who knows.

One thing that i do frequently is talk to my nana. I know for a fact that she is with me at all times because she's a bugger for moving stuff around mine and Carl's bedroom and i can smell her ( she always smelt of creme puff and estee lauder perfume ). But unlike the so called psychics who can ' talk to the dead ' la de da, it's not so black and white with me. I talk to my nana in my head and i can hear her voice replying back to me. I don't believe you can talk out loud to spirits, nor do i believe in ghosts but that is me personally, everyone is free to believe in what they wish.

I feel loads better for opening up about this, it has been a real burden to me over the years but if it wasn't for Carl i wouldn't be talking about it so thanks babe. Tang!

P.S As much as i don't believe in cliche's...don't EVER dabble with a Ouija Board. It may all sound hocus pocus and very Hollywood but they are bloody dangerous and bad things do me.

Ebay Special - 15 Piece Nail Art Brush Set

I admit i am a somewhat frugal person and i need to be able to justify the price of something. Don't get me wrong, i do occassionally fork out on the essential things in life...such as Converse and Soap & Glory * Ahem * but generally, i will look at the price of something i want and think ' Erm yeah i'm not paying that, i'll find it cheaper else where ' and 99% of the time i do just that!

And that ladies and gentlemen is where Ebay comes in. I have a gander on Ebay daily because i can guarantee there will be something in the ethos that i want and i will check on there first just to see if i can get it dirt cheap. I hate hate HATE the select few people who refuse to shop on there, why the hell not?! Do you really enjoy spending 4 times more on something when you can get it for a fraction of the price? Dear me some people need educating...ok ok rant over i will boil away my anger in my own time but for now i will talk about my most recent purchase on Ebay.

11 years ago before i realised that when i left school, i needed some kind of direction in life, i decided to sign up to do a beauty therapy NVQ at my local college because my friend Sara from school was doing it. I had no interest in beauty whatsoever but at least i was with my friend. While there i actually learnt a fair bit and i also learnt how to do nail art. Part of my course was to buy all the relevant materials and i remember my nail art brush set costing around £30 ( an obscene amount of money ). I love painting my nails and after a year, the majority of the brushes snapped so i went on my beloved Ebay and found these...

I bought these from here at the absolutely ridiculous price of....99p and with £1.39 postage i have saved around 96% compared to the set i bought for my college course.

The set itself looks very professional and comes in a plastic pouch for easy storage. The set consists of 15 various brushes ranging from precision fine liners to fan brushes and everything inbetween.

For a total price of £2.38, i have secured myself a fantastic nail art brush set and the satisfaction of knowing that my beauty therapy teacher was wrong when she said ' The set is expensive but will last you forever '.

Seriously give Ebay a chance. You may get satisfaction from saying you bought something from a designer shop but not half as much satisfaction as you will get from saying you got it at a fraction of the cost.

Iphone Photo Album - January Edition

So i realised i don't really show off the photo's that i take on my phone, i only ever upload the photo's from my cameras so i am starting a new blog post which i'll put up every month with the photo's i have taken. It's going to be random, a little weird and fiercely delicious. So let's start as we mean to go on with the January edition.

How amazingly delicious are these! Ok so i'm being biased, i made them and they were bloody gorgeous but who doesn't blow their own trumpet now and again? These cake pops were made using the cake pop maker Carl bought me for Christmas. It's an amazing little machine, a bit like a waffle iron. You pour in your chosen cake recipe, shut the lid and in 4 minutes ( yes i know 4 minutes is ridiculous ) you have amazing little balls of cakey goodness! These were a joint effort between me and Sarah and needless to say, they didn't last long.

These pictures of Angry Cat were the result of what i like to call ' bed time madness '. Me and Carl work ridiculously hard through the week and come 10pm were nackered so once Sarah is in bed, we go and get our heads down too but ocassionally, we will get the phone out and look up funny videos and photos. Our obsession this month is Angry Cat. We both love cats and we were rolling around in stitches after finding these 3 pictures. Carl now frequently says ' Non ' to everything.

Oh Carl you silly sausage. Between the both of us, we have a lot of clothes and not alot of storage space. In the chest of drawers, we both have a draw each for underwear and we share a drawer for socks. Carl generally leaves for work before i do and he tends to get dressed in the dark to save waking me up and this is what happens when he does. He came home from work one night and told me that he had managed to put on my socks instead of his own. I guess it was inevitable.

Ugh this photo really pisses me off. This was taken at work 2 weeks ago. I can't go into too much detail about my job for security reasons but i basically work for the police. I am an environmental cleaner for them. I basically clean carpets and prison cells. I had to take this photo to remember where i had got up to on the carpet because my allocated time had run out for that day so i had to leave. I really dislike my job, i drive all over the county, i'm frequently working at night and i rarely see my family during the week. It's bollocks but hopefully it's not forever.

I'm 27 and i still eat Kinder Eggs. I see absolutely no reason why i should give up the milky chocolately goodness of them because i am an adult. Generally, the toys in Kinder Eggs are pretty rubbish but i was thrilled when i got these, aren't they cute?! According to the little picture that came with them, they're supposed to hug but mine don't seem to...they're fiercely independent. The brown one looks like he's saying ' Come on then if you think you're hard enough ' and the white one is saying ' Oh i dunno Dave, this aint no Beatrix Potter book '.

Ahhhh my beautiful cat Maria. I have had Maria and her sister Tia since i was 15 and i love them dearly. We have always had cats in our family and each of them have had very different personalities but Tia and Maria are a brand all their own. Maria is obese and paranoid whereas Tia is normal weight and extremely friendly. We have never over fed Maria, it's just how she is and we love her for it. But what made me laugh was the other day when she was watching Tia walk into the room and i realised that Maria had a clevage! She is the cat that keeps on giving!

Me and Carl always said that we would hate to get into a routine, so instead we have created little traditions and one of them is our late night Saturday kebab. When everyone has gone to bed, Carl will go out and get a kebab for us both and we will sit on our bed and watch Only Fools & Horses or Rude Tube. Ok so it's not exactly healthy and we feel like we've swallowed a piano afterwards but we love it.

This pleases me every time i see it. Over Christmas, i discovered the choc orange mocha latte at Costa and i was obsessed as was our Sarah so when it was taken off the menu i was gutted until i realised i could ( probably ) make it myself. I bought some Monin Triple Sec off Ebay and set off on my mission to recreate this amazing drink. I BLOODY DID TOO!

A dash of Monin Triple Sec
1 teaspoon Wispa hot chocolate powder
2 teaspoons coffee
Squirty cream
Chocolate powder

Costa, i love you but i know your secret. Coffee ninja all over!

It may not seem a lot of photos but i only chose the best ones to put up on here. This is my life in photographic form, oh dear me i'm sad.

The Liebster Award

Well this is very exciting! When i came home from a rather shitty day at work yesterday ( getting an unjustified bollocking off my boss, driving from Hull to Cleethorpes and working until 10pm...yeah it was a bad day all round ) i was quite intrigued by a comment that was left on one of my recent blog posts. It was from a girl called Beth from

She said that she had nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award which is incredibly kind of her so thankyou very much Beth! Go and have a nosey at her blog go on go go go !!

Basically the word Liebster is German for dearest/sweetest/valued/lovely and all similar adjectives. It's a way for bloggers with less than 200 followers to be noticed in the blogging world, quite a good opportunity actually so hats off to whoever thought of it.

So here’s how it works:
1. Link the blogger who nominated you in your post
2. Answer the 11 questions provided by the blogger who nominated you
3. Nominate 11 other bloggers (with less than 200 followers)
4. Create your own set of 11 questions to ask your nominees
5. Let them know you nominated them!

My Questions!
1. What made you start blogging?

I actually had a blog a long time ago but i became a mum, had a job and life was pretty manic so i had to give it up. But i have got back into blogging because i love to share. Wether it is my personal experiences, reviews, advice...i love it all.
2. What's the best advice you've ever been given?

' When life throws you lemons, make lemonade '. It's an old saying but it's a good one
3. What's your favourite quote?

Carpe Diem which means ' Sieze the day '. I have this as a tattoo and it's something i live by. If you don't grab an opportunity when it is right infront of you, you will live to regret it.

4. What's your favourite thing in your wardrobe at the moment?

It's not a clothing item but i keep shoes in my wardrobe and my favourite thing in there is my personalised Converse that Carl got me for Christmas. They are amazing! I should blog about them really.
5. What do you hope to achieve in 2014?

Have another baby and leave my job. You have no idea how much i hate my job
6. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

New York. Carl isn't really hung up on the idea but me and Sarah really want to go there
7. What's your favourite book?

Unfortunately i am either too busy or too tired to read books but at the minute i am reading Ripleys Believe it or not and Karl Pilkington The Moaning Of Life
8. If there was a zombie apocolypse, what would be your choice of weapon?

Goes without saying it would have to be the Peacekeeper. For those not in the know, it's the gun i use on Call Of Duty so that would suit me just fine.
9. Any advice for new bloggers?

Don't copy other blogs, no one likes a copycat. Be yourself and just write what you want to write. Swear, say things that are random do what you want. The blog is about you and what you like
10. What song is your guilty pleasure?

Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac. I have a soft spot for Fleetwood Mac and find their music very relaxing. I'm really into my dance music but everyone needs to mellow at. It's a good song for when you're driving too.

11. What made you smile today?

My daughter this morning when i woke her up for school. She always makes me laugh first things because she's a heavy sleeper and looks all dishevelled when she wakes up

 My Nominees Are.....

11 Questions for my nominees...

1. What made you start blogging?
2. Who inspires you?
3. Do you have any regrets?
4. If you were to go to a desert island, what 3 items would you take?
5. What is your favourite meal?
6. What 3 words describe your personality and why?
7. Where is your perfect holiday destination?
8. What advice would you give to new bloggers?
9. Would you rather have endless shoes, endless clothes or endless make up?
10. Do you have any pets?
11. What is your most precious memory?

Once again thankyou very much to Beth for nominating me, it's massively appreciated and i look forward to reading all my nominees answers to my questions.

Disney Infinity For Xbox Review

In the Pieces Of Kate house, we have a Playstation 4 and an Xbox 360. I personally can't stand the Playstation, it annoys me whereas the Xbox is a league all it's own.

For Christmas 2013, Sarah's main present was Disney Infinity for the Xbox. Disney Infinity was released in late 2013 and is basically the best thing since Kinect in my opinion.

In the Infinity starter box, you get the base, the game itself, a gaming cube, Infinity power disc and 3 figures...Mr Incredible, Jack Sparrow & Sully ( You can't get different characters in the starter box ).

The base is connected to the Xbox via a USB lead that goes into the rear of the console. In the hexagonal space at the top, you place the gaming cube or the Infinity Power disc. The gaming cube is used to enter the characters different worlds and do challenges and games etc, the power disc is for when you want to build your own world which i will talk about in a minute.

The gaming cube.

The Power Disc - This one actually turns the sky in Toy box to night time! Very pretty and Sarah's Favourite

When you first power up Infinity, you are asked to create an account which is just your e-mail and a password of your choice. I was a bit concerned about this but it turns out it is needed for free online content that you get with each starter pack and character set. Once this is completed, you begin a little tutorial showing you how to walk, jump and interact with things but even this bit is great fun!

Now to the fun part. Once your tutorial is over and done with, you enter The Toy Box . This is basically your starting point for Infinity where you see the Disney Castle and you can build whatever you like! Also in The Toy Box is the gaming platform where you can enter the different parts of Infinity.

So how do you play? Well let's say you want to play Monsters Inc. You would place Sully on the first circular space ( this is player #1 ) and the gaming cube onto the hexagonal space and then after a few screenshots popping up, you will be in the Monsters Inc world! The second circular space is for the additional character to the one on the first circular space for example you could have Jack Sparrow on #1 circle and Barbosa on #2. You do this when you wish to play as a multiplayer. Each world and characters have their own challenges but you can also just mess around, there are no set rules with Infinity and that's one of the reasons i enjoy it so much.

Now for the characters...

The figures you get in the starter box
In every starter box of Infinity it includes Mr Incredible, Jack Sparrow & Sully figurines but you can buy so many other characters for it seperately including Toy Story, Cars, Jack Skelington ( Nightmare before Christmas ) and loads more. My mum bought Saz The Sidekicks character pack for Christmas which is the match for these ones. You get Mrs Incredible, Barbosa & Mike ( See Below )

Sorry the photo is a little blurred here
The Disney Infinity Starter Box costs around £50 now i think that's incredibly reasonable for all the stuff that is included. Character sets vary in price because you can either buy them seperately or as a set. When you buy them seperately they are around the £12 mark, as a set they are around £25. That might seem extortionate for just some figurines but bare this in mind. With every new character you get a new gaming cube and power disc and the game play is extensive. Infinity doesn't have an ending it goes on and on, the possibilities for game play are endless so in my opinion, £25 for new figurines is a steal!

I personally love Disney Infinity, myself and Sarah have had many hilarious nights playing it. What i will say is, Sarah will be 11 this year and she can play it no problem but Carl's sister was telling me she was planning to get it for her eldest who is 4 but they were unsure as to wether it may be too advanced for him. I'm afraid it is in a sense that young children may have a hard time doing the quests and alike but as for general game play, it's suitable for all ages.

I give Disney Infinity 5

Paul's Boutique Shimmer Body Mists review

Ahhh my first review of 2014, it tastes delicious and smells amazing..quite like this little beauty down here ( although i don't plan on tasting them, that would just be wrong )

I apologise for the photo, the light is awful at the minute and my picture editor has decided not to

This chunky monkey barrel of loveliness is the Paul's Boutique Shimmer Body Mist set. I already have the perfumes to match these and they all smell amazing, so i was really excited when i found this.

The 'names' of these are the same as the perfume set. 24/7, A.M & P.M. The concept of these ( if it wasn't already clear ) is that each scent is created for a specific time of day. For example 24/7 you can wear all day long but you wouldn't wear P.M in the morning as it is more of an evening fragrance. But of course you can wear whichever one you please, you're hardly going to be struck down by a bolt of lightning if ( god forbid ) you should wear A.M in P.M OH NO !!

They are a very garish shade of pink i grant you and when a perfume/body spray is that colour you expect it to smack you in the face with a very sweet/floral aroma...wrong! These are the polar opposite to that. Each one has a very different scent, again this goes with the names and the best time to wear them

24/7 - This one does exactly what it says on the tin. It's one you could wear all day at work and then out and about on the night. It's subtle yet packs a punch so you definitely get noticed when you wear it.

A.M - This one is a little sweeter, it's a bit like Lacoste Touch Of Pink with regards to scent but no where near as overpowering. It's the perfect scent to wear during the day and is my favourite out of all of them.

P.M - As you'd expect, P.M is more musky and definitely an evening fragrance. On a night out i wear Lady Million by Paco Rabanne because it makes me think of the night time, it's a dark sort of fragrance much like this one. I admit i am not a massive fan of this one in the perfume sense but as a body mist it's a lot less dramatic and works really well for me.

Another factor about this product is that it doesn't spray like a conventional body mist, it's more like a perfume atomiser which helps to keep the amount of product you use under your control and not the container. Also, everytime you spray it, it leaves a very subtle shimmer of glitter on your skin. Now i am not a huge fan of glitter, i find it really annoying stuff to get rid of but this is very pretty and adds just a little glamour while smelling amazing.

This was £9.99 from Studio Catalogue which is an absolute steal in my eyes because this set will last me a very long time. If you don't have a studio account you can buy it here where it is only £10. It is sold pretty much all over the place so you will definitely not have any trouble purchasing one.

I give this product 5 ✰

Updates & Exciting News

I just know this is going to be a stupidly long blog post so if you manage to read this all the way through to the end, i applaud you and offer you cake by way of a thankyou.

So firstly, i hope you all had a brilliant Christmas & New Year. I mentioned how my December was pretty crap with my mum falling ill and ending up in hospital and then a couple of days after Christmas, Carl, Sarah and & mum all came down with the winter vomiting bug..bad times. But apart from that i had a good Christmas and New Year was let's just say, different? Me and Carl went to the pub in the hope we would see the NY in pissed out of our faces, however seeing as we aren't really drinkers, we ended up staying for 2 pints, winning £20 odd on the bandit and grabbing a burger. We slept through New Year !!

My New Year drunken Selfie....Oh dear

Next up, normality is now being restored in the Pieces Of Kate household. The decorations came down on 2nd January and the whole house has been completely cleaned. There's something very calming about putting the tree and garlands back in the loft for another year. As much as i love Christmas, i do like to see my house looking less festive.

On the 6th, Carl will be going back to work and on the 7th Saz will be going back to school. Both of them finished on the same day so they have both had 3 weeks off and neither are looking forward to going back. I however have worked all through Christmas except for Christmas Day & NYD. I suppose it's a good and a bad thing really...good because it means i don't have that 'going back to work slump' to contend with but bad because no one would love 3 weeks off more than me so i can get my ever growing list of jobs ticked off my bloody list!

Last but definitely not least, my plans to take on YouTube are now coming to fruition!

I've mentioned my interest in starting making YT vids in a previous post but after alot of think, note taking and talking to Carl, i have decided that i am going to start a gaming channel. I love playing games and i can get way too involved in them which i think will make very funny viewing. I have fond memories of playing my SNES console when i was little and getting really pissed off when Mario kept walking into a turtle when i was so positive i made him's these kind of things that have given me the vision of a gaming channel.

But there's so much competition i hear you cry. I don't care...i'm not deliberately setting out into Youtube to make money or become a massive personality ( Though i am well aware that this can be the case if you become recognised ) i just want to do something i enjoy and maybe make people laugh!

I get paid next week and i plan to go out and buy a  Hauppauge HD PVR2 which looks like this.....

Oooo check you out you slimline thing you

This beautiful little box will make creating my gaming footage a breeze. It is basically a box that you plug into whatever platform you are playing on ( Xbox, PlayStation, PC ) etc and records everything that you see on screen. When it's done, it transfers the data to you computer so you can edit it and post it online. I'm very very excited about this and i think Carl might be too because he has spoke of doing Call Of Duty videos/tutorials and posting them online so this will benefit him too. I do love something that has dual purpose, a bit like clothing can't go far wrong if you have a box of clothing pins.

So the plan is for me to purchase this little beauty next week and put up my first video on Sunday 12th January. Like i said, i'm not out to make a name for myself, i just want to have fun. What will be will be.
